DIRT MODIFIED: Berneil Mills Grabs Top Ten At Lake Cumberland Speedway
AUGUST 20TH, 2012 (ST. LOUIS, MO) Berneil Mills Racing loaded the Lightning Chassis into the team hauler on Saturday and set the destination for Burnside, Kentucky, home of the 3/8 mile dirt oval Lake Cumberland Speedway. Twenty modified drivers entered to compete in ‘The Harold Hardgrove Memorial’ in combination with ‘Racing for a Cure’. Motorsports fans filled the seats anxiously waiting for the green flag to drop of the first heat race to begin special event.
The green flag flew on the third modified heat race. Local driver Berneil Mills from nearby Barbourville, Kentucky set out seeking much needed seat time, chasing his first win on the dirt circuits. The former asphalt driver crossed the line third, putting himself inside the top ten on the starting grid for the 25 lap main event.
Twenty dirt modified drivers entered Lake Cumberland Speedway with a chance to deposit the $1,000 winning check. Following the heat race Mills made a chassis adjustment on the #19 G&M Oil Company sponsored machine seeking forward drive anticipating a slick track top to bottom. At the start of the race Berneil Mills lost a few positions to the field. However, halfway through the main event the track changes began to play into the thirty-one year old drivers favor. As other drivers began falling through the field, Mills began picking up positions. At the conclusion of 25 action filled throttle down laps Mills crossed the line in the tenth position, picking up his fourth top ten in only five starts on the dirt.
Stay tuned to the team social media pages for upcoming track appearances. Bernail Mills is excited to provide his sponsor logos featured on the #19 car a trip to victory circle in the near future.
